Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$87.215 - $112.536 - $137.857

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

The Director Acute Care and Nursing Support Services provides leadership and operational direction for multi-functional clinical areas within Sharp Memorial Hospital (SMH). This position is accountable for leading, planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of the patient care and clinical areas for Acute Care and Nursing Support Services.

This director will work collaboratively with other members of the leadership team within SMH and the Sharp system to promote and ensure ongoing systems integration, coordination, continuity and consistency of nursing services and practices. This position is subject to functional policies and goals and has discretion to establish plans and recommend policies and priorities, provided activities are consistent with integration objectives, and operating policies.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years management experience (or equivalent).

  • 5 years work experience in a field(s) of specialization (acute care, critical care, emergency dept, etc.)

  • California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

  • Master's Degree

  • Graduate degree is required.

  • If candidate has BSN, then MSN or healthcare related graduate degree (MHA, MBA, MPH) is acceptable.

  • If candidate does not have BSN, then graduate degree must be MSN.

Essential Functions

  • Directs the strategic planning process for assigned areas within Sharp Memorial Hospital.

  • Determines direction, goals, and objectives of assigned areas and ensures implementation of strategic and operating plans. Directs the development of short and long-range plans and within assigned departments.

  • Develops and recommends overall organizational policies and objectives within assigned departments and ensures their implementation within SMH. Further, the director is responsible for sharing changes with other patient care departments and services to promote continuity and standardization across the entity and within the system.

  • In collaboration with other Sharp leaders, ensures that the integration and system coordination occur within all aspects of the clinical area(s).

  • Manages contract services, and/or outside relationships relating to daily operations. Communicates and ensures that entity processes are developed and implemented to ensure that entity stakeholders/constituents needs are met.

  • Ensures organizational compliance with legislation and regulations as they impact assigned areas. Responsible for ensuring ongoing problem identification and problem-solving for the assigned areas and diffuses any crisis issue through proactive and strategic decision-making processes.

  • Overall operations management inclusive of responsibilities related to the patient experience, employee engagement, cost management, quality of services delivered, employee and resource management and total care delivery.

  • Evaluates, monitors and improves logistical management of all operational components required to deliver optimal care and service.

  • Responsible for managing a diverse group of multi-level employees for the entity.

  • Achieves financial outcomes and targets goals for system efficiency.

  • This position requires seasoned professional skills and knowledge supplemented by applicable work experience in a field(s) of specialization (acute care, critical care, etc.).

  • Exceptional oral and written skills.

  • The ability to exercise sound judgement in business decisions and to critically analyze and problem-solve complex and global issues, as well as manage solutions at a detailed level.

  • This person is also accountable for demonstrating flexibility and exercising confidentiality of issues affecting business issues of the respective entity.
